Is Your School Safe?

In the local news today, a middle school had someone test positive for the COVID virus. It didn’t mention whether it was a student or a teacher. They are now quarantined at home and the school is being disinfected.

Over the past decade, school shootings have risen as well. It appears no one wants to do anything about the prevalence of guns in the hands of people that should never be able to have one are not old enough to have one legally.

Today, schools worry about more than viruses while trying to educate the students in their charge. There are staff, teachers, and students that must learn how to protect themselves and others while trying to learn.

It isn’t easy learning when students have to worry about things out of their control. States and local school boards have a huge responsibility to all involved in the care of students while in class.

Is enough being done?

From the statistics seen daily, it would seem the answer is no. This is why each student and their family must do their part to help control this pandemic for themselves and others with the hope of minimizing the risk to all until this pandemic is finally past us. It could take years until more people understand how deadly this virus is.

As of August 28, 2020, there have been over 180,000 deaths with another 1,000 today alone, and a projection of over 300,000 by the end of September if we continue going the way we are. Adults need to show by example that this is the biggest health crisis in over a century, which lasted for two years.

School should be a place of safety and fun with friends and not having to worry about getting sick or making someone sick and possibly dying for something that can be prevented with some simple steps.

All of us are in the same boat and must do whatever is necessary to come out the other end of the pandemic healthy for the future.

Learn what you have to do to take care of yourself and your friends and family during this trying time of a health crisis.
